All that you need to use the CPS PROFILER is a sample of the candidates handwriting. This could be from a letter or an application form. Ideally the sample would be a couple of paragraphs in length. More is better but the analysis is still effective with less.

1. Once the material is received, if you can, make sure the handwriting is legible by imaging it on the computer screen for full 3D view. You can also print a copy. If it is an application form then scan it and save it as a.pdf file. The scanned copy is not read by the software but you have the right to inspect the pages.
2. If the material is not already typed, add page numbers to it so the date (month/day/year) is clearly marked in the middle of each page. If the material is typed, then do not include any dates/month/day/year information to avoid misinterpretation.
3. If there is an address in the material it must be located so it is clear where the material was received. In that case, the CPS PROFILER software will recognize the location and may show the address on the computer screen with the correct location and state listed beside the location.
4. Save the sample material to your computer in a suitable file. The default file extension is.txt. If you change the extension to.doc or.pdf, you will be able to view the sample text material in these files and print it.
5. You will get a message indicating the file type you chose.
6. In the case of a.doc file, you will get a warning (if the setting permits it) that the file is saved as a read-only file. This is normal.

The graphology aspect of CPS Profiler involves a new method of spreading personality traits, rather than the more traditional methods of spreading details from the letter of reference. By spreading personality traits within a letter as a set of graph lines, the analysis is able to be more accurate and meaningful in the results it produces.
If you find for example that, at a certain point, the graph of the applicant goes up then down, up then down, it is possible that the applicant has a tendency to be too sensitive, at certain points, to certain situations in life.
If your candidate has only a single upward slope, for example, this could indicate a tendency to over react.
If your candidate has many downward slopes, however, this could indicate a tendency to under react.
