GPX Creator has a pretty suggestive name that clearly states its purpose. It is designed to create, open and edit GPX files, enabling you to build travelling routes for your GPS application or device.

Nevertheless, its functionality could be improved by adding advanced searching options to help users look for tourist attractions, restaurants and diners, or accomodation. Not to mention that it would be great if its maps would feature integrated snapshots, location suggestions and and street view, at least in popular locations.

The Design
The Hack Day started with a survey looking at what people wanted to be made that could be turned into a physical product. We looked at the developers’ and gamers’ preferences and on balance we decided to design a console that would be portable and could easily be built on to the existing pieces you already had. This would also be easy enough to be made as a gift or a spare design in case you damaged or lost one of the other designs.
We then went to the Desktop Transformer website and played with the various device profiles. We decided to go for a profile that would be a hybrid of the ‘how to transform your desktop into something ultra-portable’ site and the ‘going somewhere with it’ site. This made the most sense to us and would also be as likely to put us in touch with people who could help build it, like game developers or hardware companies.
Our final device profile was a stand/display stand with a keyboard, mouse and headphone port, an SD card slot, button switches to turn on the device and turn on and off the display, USB sockets and HDMI socket. A printer/scanner/fax would also be useful.
