What’s New in the Portable VirtuAMP?
VirtuAMP is a real-time virtual guitar amplifier with nearly 250 effect pedals designed for Windows-based PC. It is a portable edition of virtuAMP that works as a standalone application, which can be run from the Windows Explorer shell window.
All virtual guitar effect pedals are in a single window and can be easily accessed by clicking on the “Playback” tab, or the “Effect” tab, or by selecting an effect from the list that appears when you double-click on the tab.
The layout of the interface and the way it behaves is the same as that of the non-portable version of virtuAMP. No extra work is required to access the settings of an effect pedal, although they can be saved in the profile in case you want to restore your original settings and preferences.
There are more than 250 effects, and only 32 of them are displayed at a time in the menu when the application is opened for the first time. You can select the number of them that are displayed by clicking on the menu button. In this way, you can avoid extra work to scroll through the options of the tool.
The maximum number of effects that can be shown simultaneously is 400, and you can save up to 60 of them on the profile.
Virtual guitar effect pedals can be added and removed, their order can be changed, their position on the screen can be modified, and their settings can be changed with the help of a user-friendly GUI.
Furthermore, virtuAMP remembers the settings of each effect to file in case you want to add and remove a pedal from your projects. There is no need to recalculate the settings of each pedal after installing virtuAMP on a different machine or when an old or new version of virtuAMP is installed on the same computer.
You can save the playback and the configuration settings of each effect as well as the number of pedals that are displayed. This way, you can work with a saved profile in case you want to restore your original setup.
VirtuAMP can play back or record single or multitrack.wav files and all sample files from a CD.
You can edit the playback or recording properties of the file or sample.
VirtuAMP uses a low CPU and very low RAM footprint, so it doesn't affect overall performance.
Changes made to the configuration are applied to the sound without any delay.
No error dialogs have been shown during our evaluation, and virtuAMP did not hang or crash.

After three years of work, John Hennessy published his findings in 1887, in a book called Flatland. The book described a world in which all objects are two-dimensional, flat things with no depth. People think and act in this world in the same way that they would in ours, however, when they are in Flatland, they cannot see that they are in a different dimension. They have no access to the third dimension and are totally unaware of its existence. This gives John’s book an unusual and disturbing charm, that we could be perfectly content without knowing what it’s like to live in the world in three dimensions. The Flatlanders are nothing more than two dimensional projections of ourselves, completely unaware of their existence in a different dimension. So when we live in a world in which we cannot think of the third dimension, it is sometimes hard to imagine how other people live there.
