Raw Cat Food – Turning the Health of Your Cat Around
A friend’s daughter, Susan, was house and cat sitting. It’s something she likes and gives her an additional income. She was concerned for the cat though, as he was dirty, smelt as if he was rubbed and thin.
Now, healthy cats NEVER smell, are dirty or appear ragged. Or are thin or even thin, although it isn’t the case that a cat who is obese healthy.
So I asked her about her diet was, knowing very well what the reply was going to be.
It was.
Dried food, out of a box.
OK, so it wasn’t the responsibility of Susan to decide what her cat fed, but she takes her responsibilities seriously . She was worried that the cat would not stay long enough until her family returned from their long holiday.
And the cat is very loved and loves to sleep with her. She’d prefer not to share her mattress with a smelly, dirty cat and feels bad about it.

What can she do?
So I suggested that she feed the cat raw cat food.
I advised her on what food to buy and also how to manage the transition.
Older cats who are converting into raw food for their cats are likely to suffer from a purge of toxins. If you’re not prepared, it can look as that your cat’s health is rapidly deteriorating. The truth is that it’s simply doing a spring cleaning.
Young cats do not have a toxin build up and, therefore, when their diet is changed to raw cat food, they don’t feel the same purge.
Sure enough, once the raw food had been prepared, Susan saw signs of purging of toxin. Susan was happy that I had prepared her, as it was a little alarming for a few days.
On the fourth day she informed me that the cat was just more relaxed.
On the sixth day, Susan reported that the cat was washing itself.
On the ninth day she reported that the cat was anticipating his food and devoured it with gusto, consuming every bit.
By day twelve, she told me the cat was almost like a normal cat – clean and sweet, smelled nice, was growing, content and showed no concern whatsoever for his chances of being able to survive.
She was already sleeping with him by now, too.
It’s great to know that the cats’ owners were amazed at the different cat they had returned to. We can only hope they kept the cat food that was raw Susan was able to adopt.
The cat was in its middle years, and the purging phase at the start of his new diet was slightly smaller than what a cat of a higher age could experience.
It’s worth every minute of the resentment your cat treats you with in the early days, while they acclimatise to eating raw cat food. They may look at you accusingly, refuse the food and paw at the food like they are trying to throw it away or turn their backs at you, etc.
Be aware of the long term health gain.
